Certificate in Community Interpreting (CCI) Level 3
The Level 3 Certificate in Community Interpreting (CCI) is a nationally recognised qualification in the UK, serving as the entry-level standard for paid public service interpreting work.
It is considered the minimum requirement for interpreters seeking paid assignments.
The Certificate in Community Interpreting Level 3 (CCI) is a vocational qualification, designed to give learners the skills to be active in the modern labour market. The qualification has been developed in accordance with the National Occupational Standards for Interpreters (CFAINT01 – CFAINT09) and is aimed at meeting the needs of learners and employers. The qualification is regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulations (Ofqual) in England and is part of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) according to the Level Descriptors for knowledge and understanding.

There are no formal academic entry requirements for this qualification; however, due to the nature of the qualification content, those undertaking the qualification must have a proficient level of spoken and written English and Other Language.
Learners must be confident that their languages (English and Other Language) are approximately at Level C1 on the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
CALCULATE YOUR LEVEL
If your mother-tongue language is NOT English, you should test your English by taking a free-of-charge CEFR test – available from the British Council at englishonline.britishcouncil.org/free-english-level-test-cefr-2/. If your results show a level of approximately A1 to B1 / B2, you may not be quite ready for this course.If your mother-tongue language IS English, you should test your Other Language following the CEFR scale.
